Setting up a BM6000 and getting the most from a pod

First charge

Give a new device a full charge on the supplied USB-C cable before the first pod goes in. Devices ship partly charged for transport reasons, not because that is how they are meant to be used, and starting from a full battery gives you a consistent baseline to judge the first pod against.

Fitting and priming a pod

Take the pod out of its wrapper, remove any transport plug or sticker from the base, and seat it in the device until it clicks. Then leave it alone for three to five minutes. That pause lets the liquid soak into the wicking material around the mesh element. Firing a bone-dry pod is the single most common way to ruin a fresh one, and it is completely avoidable by waiting.

After the wait, take two or three short, gentle draws before a full one. If the flavour seems muted on the first few puffs, that is normal; most pods settle after five or six.

Day-to-day care

Pod systems live in pockets and bags, and the two things that shorten their working life are lint in the charging port and liquid on the contacts. Charging habits

Charge from the supplied cable or an equivalent USB-C lead into a standard mains adapter or a computer port. Sealed pods keep best upright, at room temperature, out of direct sunlight. Troubleshooting the BM6000

Weak or muted flavour

Three usual causes. The pod is new and has not settled, in which case give it five or six draws. The pod is near the end of its life, in which case swap it. Or you have been using the same profile for days and your palate has adapted to it, which is genuinely common and is fixed by rotating to something unrelated — a mint or menthol pod between two fruit profiles works better than switching from one berry to another.

Gurgling or a wet draw

Usually the result of drawing too hard, which floods the wick faster than it can vaporise. Ease off, take a couple of dry draws with the pod removed to clear the airflow path, wipe the pod bay, refit and continue with gentler pulls. If a pod gurgles from the very first draw, check it is fully seated.

The device does not fire

Check the charge first. Then check the pod is seated fully and the contacts are dry and clean. Draw-activated devices rely on a sensor that can be confused by liquid or debris around the contact area. If the device still does not respond on a full charge with a known-good pod fitted, it is a hardware fault rather than a user error, and you should contact us rather than taking the unit apart.
